TOLAGO BAY JOCKEY CLUB ANNUAL MEETING.

(Special to Times.) 1 Tolago Bay, last night. Glorious weather prevailed to-day for the Tolago Bay races. There was a good attendance, including many visitors from Gisborne. The Secretary, Mr Holder, was indefatigable in the performance of his many duties, and was well assisted by a willing baud of officials. Mr Boland made excellent starting, and Mr Moore filled the office of judge with general satisfaction. The following wore ihe results : Handicap Hurdle Race, of 35 .sovs, lAniiles. 38 Mr Han Barry’s Morpeth, Jones 1 19 Mr F. Rhodes’ Mangamahaki, Maher ... ... ••• 2 The only starters. Warrior was scratched. From an excellent start Morpeth went to tho front from the jump, and led throughout, winning comfortably by three lengths. Time 2.55, on tote 57, div. £1 7s.

Mr Ormond’s gelding led into tbo straight, but Craftsman came with a great dash on the outside aud won by half a length from Hinetapauriki. Hiki was closo up third. Time 1.17. £6'&‘d on tote. Scratched: Pistol Grip, Mechanic, Tynedalo, Eureafca, Waiapu, anti Ilauiti. Also started: 12 Waiparc, 3 Jubilee. Signet got ail excellent start, and was followed closely by Minerva. After three furlongs Waipare came up on the leaders, and once in the turn for home Ward sent Malcolm forward. It was a great race, the field being well together coming up the straight. Lady Raven shot out at the distance, and won a brilliant race by the shortest of heads.
