Napier, lust night. The weather wus fine to-day for the first day of the Hawke’s Bay Jockey Club’s Spring Meeting. There was a large attendance. The sum of HDOSO was put through tho machine, as against .£4556 for the same day last year. Tho results wore : Autumn Handicap. Ball.yneety 1, Tradewind 2. Only starters. Won comfortably. Timo 1.51, div. HI 17s. Maiden Hack.— Madrigal 1, Wild Cat 2, Croupier 8. Wen easily. Time 1.17, divß. H2 5s und HI 355.
Hawke’s Bay Cup, of 250 sovs, 1J miles, Ringman, 3yrs, by Castor —Bangle, 6.7 Ostiak, 8.12
A.8.N., 6.12 3 Ostiak led for a mile, when Ringman caught him and won by two lengths. Timo 2.10, divs. H 5 10s and 18s. First Handicap Hurdles.—Awaburi 1, Scallywag and The Gryphon dead heat for second place. Won easily. Time 3.55 ; divs. Awahuri H2 6s, Scallawag 7s, The Gryphon 18s. Nursery Handicap. Gold Crown 1, Melodeon 2, Trent 3. Won very easily. Time 1.3, divs. H 3 4s and H2 19s.
Welter Handicap.—Roseplot 1, Andree 2, Paphos 3. Only starters. Won by four lengths. Time 1.54, div. HI 17s. First Hack Handicap,— Vrllance 1, Optimist 2, Aroha 3. Won by half a length. Time 1.32, divs.,H2 13s arid HI 10s. Railway Stakes. —West Guard 1, Float 2, Chasseur 3. Won comfortably. Timo 1.16, divs. HI 14s and HI 2s.

The Grey races were held to-day. The weather was very bad. Several races were run in showers of rain. The attendance was small. Tho following are the results :

STRATFORD RAGES. (Per Press Association.) Stratford, last night.
The Stratford races to-day were a record for the club. The weather was fine, and the attendance large. Tho course was rather heavy. The sum of H 7731 was put through the totalisator, H 721 more than last year. Moturoa and Taranaki fell at the hurdles. Adams, the rider of Taranaki, was severely injured. The results were:
