Tho start was inurked with very slow play, seven runs only being added in thirty minutes. Burnup added four to his unfinished innings und then played Collins into Armstrong's hands in tho slips. A few balls later Stunning, who addod seven to his Saturday's score, was disposed of in a similur manner. Taylor, without having scored, in trying to pull Armstrong, was snapped up by Raver. Dowsou and Bosauquet looked like ntakiug a stand, but with eight to his credit the latter fell a victim to a good catch by Armstrong off Collins. The scoro at this stago was 112, and so remained while Thompson and Trott camo and want. Collins bowled the formor off the pads first ball, and Trott boforo he got going drove a ball back to Collins, who, jumping out, took tho catch high up with one hand. Graham fillod the vacaucy, and quiet play followed. The total rose to 75, when McAlister, failing to got properly hold of Dowsou, was snapped up by Stunning at mid-off. Armstrong partnered Graham. Tnompson went on vice Trott. Ho opened account with threo wides. Slow play followed. Bosanquet triod his hand at bowling. The first over yielded seven. The' score steadily mounted. Interest dropped out of the match. Tho holding was iifoJous. Grahum and Armstrong wero still together at tho tea adjournment, the score stunding at 143. On resuming, despite the trial of no less than six bowlers, runs continued to come steadily. At 204 Graham, in his eagerness to reach tho century, miss hit Burnup into Warner’s hands. GISBORNE V. TOLAGO BAY. Times Special. Tolago Bay, last night. Thoro was a large attendance of spectators at tho cricket match Gisborne v. Tolago Bay to-day. There had been heavy rain on' Sunday afternoon, but the wicket was fairly good. Two of the Gisborne inon arrived late, and substitutes were put into the field. Tolago Bay, in their first innings, made 50 (Reeves 16, and Jolly SO). Gisborne responded with 71 (Porter 20 aud Gibson 14), In their second innings Tolago Bay made 63. There were six wickets down for 16, and things looked gloomy for a time, but tho next three put up 40. Jolly was 30 not out, and gave a fine exhibition of free cricket. Requiring 46 to win Gisborne seemed to have ah easy task, but it did not provo so ; their score only totalled 33 (Gibson 12), and thus Tolago won by 13 runs. Porter had a bowling average of 9 for 21. The visitors were capitally entertained, and are warm in their praise of the treatment they received.
