CHRISTCHURCH, last night.
Mr Alloo, the Swiss electrician, in reply to remains made by, Mr T, E. Taylor in correspondence with tlie Premier, says that, he was asked by, the Premier, to report on the water power schemes iu the colony. The lad that he represents the Hydraulic Machinery Manufacturing Company,ot Zurich, can in no way affect fus report or his qualifications. If tlie schemes are adopted and tenders called for the machinery and plant, Jiis firm will tender, and he considers it should he in a specially good position to do so. I-Ie left Christchurch this evening for Wellington, and will stibium reports to Government, and will leave Wellington for .Sydney on Saturday, and will return to Switzerland via Japan and Siberia. The Linwood Borough Council lias decided not to agree to tlie boundaries oi wards and numbers of representatives for Greater Christchurch as proposed by the City Council, Ibis will prevent the gazetting o£ the amalgamation and probably necessitate the appointment of "a Commission to arrange tlie matter.
