Encyclopedic Articles Over 150,000 encyclopedic articles are given in “ THE CENTURY,” covering the entire field of human knowledge and hislory— not in long dry articles to be skimmed over in search of the desired piece of information, but in skilful subdivisions that go straight to the point in question. All these articles are arranged alphabetically, so that the work is an instant question-answerer, and has earned for itself the striking epithet of “ rapid-fire knowledge gun.” (See paragraph on “Arrangement of Subject for Instant Finding.”) These encyclopedic artioles were furnished in every instance by the highest authority in their respective worlds of knowledge. Over five hundred specialists gave their life’s work to the compilation of “THE CENTURY," and, being essentially a modern product, the greatest care was exercised in every department that mistakes of its predecessors should be avoided and corrected, thus necessitating an immense amount of research never before expended on any work of reference. It is this extreme care and the thorough confirmation of every fact that have made “ THE CENTURY ” the standard of authority in every branch knowledge the world qyev, *' o£ short of this would ixotbang instant - earned for it authorities« V ' as “ the authority of ij,,: ,n every institution of learn‘J .
