FURNITURE DISPUTE.

MR JUSTICE COOPER TO DECIDE

Per Press Association^ Auckland, last night,

The position in regard to the dead-lock in the furniture trade is unaltered. Interviewed by a Herald reporter, Mr Tregear said : “ I see no good in attempting any longer to bring about a settlement. The two sides have apparently drawn a firm line across which neither workers nor employers will pass. It will therefore be left for Arbitration Court to say what was its intention in making the award. It would be improper for me as an official to take any further part in the matter. I have exhausted arguments with both sides in endeavoring to bring about a peaceful solution, and it will remain for His Honor, Mr Justice Cooper, to say whether he considers that there has been an attempt to evade the provisions of the award or not.”
