ASHBURTON TELEGRAPH OFFICE
.(Per Press Association) Ashburton, last night. On account of the increased business, the Ashburton telegraph office will bo open for transmission and receipt of ordinary messages at day rates till midnight on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.
RIFLE SHOOTING.
Wanganui, last night. The second annual meeting of the Wanganui and West Coast Ride Association commenced to-day. There was beautiful weather, and over a hundred competitors. The Manuwatu match was won by Corpora] Needham, of Palmerston North, with 64. The other highest scorers were : Partes, Palmerston North, 59; Carey, Patea, 57. The TaraDaki match was won by Carey, with 64. The first range, 500yds, P f Wanganui match was fired, and Hofleins, of Wanganui, made 35. SHOCKING CASE. At the Supreme Court to-day, W. G; Blight was found guilty of indecent assault on a girl under 16.
