SERIOUS CHARGE
By Telegraph—Press Association. Dunedin, last night. At the Supreme Court, after a trial lasting nearly the whole day, Eliza Metcalfe and Ethel Saunders, charged with performing an illegal operation on a girl, were found not guilty and discharged, the jury being of opinion that there was not sufficient corroborative evidenco to convict.
LAND SALE.
At tho sale of pastoral runs to-day, bidding was not spirited. Two runs wero passod in, and oxcept in the ease of three runs grouped in the Waitaki, which brought £l2 abovo the upset, the six runs disposed of wero let to the present oceu-' pants at tho upset prico.

Through the representation of Mr W. P. Beeves, Agent-General, the Otago Patriotic Fund has received a cheque for £4OO from that portion of tho Mansion House Patriotic Fund not yot allocatod, as a contribution to the Fund.
