AUCKLAND, last night. Thu Monowai return for live weeks is seven hundred and thirty-six pounds thirteen shillings and sixpence noni three hundred and ninety-one tons of ore. A meeting of shareholders oi' the Loan and Mercantile Agency Company resolved :“ In the opinion of tins meeting, the method now adopted by the general manager in disposing of land by ballot instead of by public competition is not conducive to the best interests of the Company, and this meeting protests against the intended disposal by this system of the Hillside and Ormond properties now advertised. NAPIER, last night. When the hearing of the Waipawa alleged murder case was resumed this morning, Judge Edwards ruled admitting certain evidence as to an alleged illegal practice on the part of Moore on a previous occasion, but when tlie witness was tendered on the point she declined to make any state, merit on tiie ground that her answers niignt incriminate herself.
NEW PLYMOUTH, last night. The Premier and Mr Duncan and party arrived here at five o’clock this morning from Palmerston. The weather was 100 wet to permit of the proposed drive to Waitara, but possibly a special train will he put oil. Ther? is a large gathering from all parts of the province tor the Uniques to-night. The local office of the Union Steam Ship Company are ad vised that the tri-weekly service to Onehunga will be maintained till after Easter, making with the Northern steamers a daily, service.
WELLINGTON, last night. The Boer farmer delegates left for Hawke’s Bay to-day, accompanied by Mr Ritchie, Secretary for Agriculture (who will remain with them until their return to Wellington next week. Cabinet has decided to establish several additional district courts, principally in the North Island.
