STOCK SALES
MESSRS COMMON, SHELTON AND CO.’ SALE. At Puhatikotikoyesterday Messrs Common, Shelton and Co. held their annual autumn sheep sale, being favored with fine weather. There was only a moderate attendance, but those present were bent on business, and competition was brisk for all good lines, a result due largely to the presence of an outside buyer. Taking into consideration the large amount of sheep offering and the decline in prices for fat stock, the sale was very satisfactory. The firm offered 7585 sheep, and sold 5927, particulars of the lots sold being as follows : —1484 four-year-old ewes, 8s; 2200 four- and five-year-old ewes, 8s; 612 four- and six-tooth culled ewes, 8s; 427 mixed two-tooth, a good line, 10s; 276 two-tooth wethers, medium quality, 8s 9d ; 211 five- and six-year-old ewes, 5s ; 548 culled two-tooths, 4s 3d : 469 aged ewes, 2s. A line of 1150 c filed lambs and another line of 468 culled ewes were the only lots unsold. The firm’s next sale will be held at Waerenga-a-kura, on Thursday, the 26th instant,
