THE MILK SUPPLY.

(To the Editor Gisborne Times.)

Sir,—With reference to the letter appearing in your paper this (Monday) morning, in regard to the milk supply, I consider it an unwarranted attack and a slur upon the reputation of the milk vendors of this town, and tho writer making such grave charges should certainly have had tile manliness to attach his name. Tho fact that the milk carried in the vendor’s cart is liable at any, moment to be taken by the Borough Inspector, and subjected to a rigorous test, should, 1 think, convince any fair-minded person that practices) such as are alleged do not prevail., I am surprised that a respectable paper should condescend to publish such a grave reflection on the eight or ten persons supplying milk to Gisborne..— 1 am, etc., m T W. BELL.

(To the Editor Gisborne Times.)

Sir,—l was rather astonished to see suce. an extraordinary letter as appeared in your Monday’s issue in regard to our local milk vendors. 1 have been a purchaser of milk in Gisborne for about a quarter or a century. and have obtained it from many dillcrent suppliers, and I may say the milk supplied to me was never better than it has been since the factories became such good customers of the daily men. People who have the temerity to hint that isinglass has been used should also have the manliness to do as you suggest, and make a specific charge. Then the question would soon be settled. In aiming at all he succeeds in hitting no one—unless it he himself—but be is none the Jess unjust in the attitude he has assumed.—l am, etc., HOUSEHOLDER.
