PRICE OF BREAD

Sir,—When the price of flour was raised about the ninety-ninth of a penny per lb, the price of bread suddenly jumped up a penny per lb to recoup the bakers ior a small portion of the loss. That was a fair thing, though being weak at arithmetic the problem oi bow the two increases were made to correspond was beyond me. But lam awaiting a chance to prove the table by the sudden drop m the price oi bread. Were the Press messages about the reduction in the price "of flour all moonshine, or has no one called the attention of the bakers to those telegrams. Here is an uu-algcbraic problem: If the price oi bread bumps up with a loud noise when there has been a small rise in the price of Hour, what time should •it take to creep back to the same high level ? The downgrade is generally supposed to be the easiest to negotiate. hut the calculators must take time to think in answering this question.—l am, etc., ' ' CORN-FEU,
