Sir,—As a visitor I attended public prayers (conducted by Rev. Mr Rothwell on last Sunday evening at his place of worship ; aDd was much pleased and perhaps much benefited by hearing his excellent discourse ; being remarkably the natural outcome of the preacher’s bent towards poetic analogy, controlled by keen spirituality and eminently adaptable to the duties of a useful every day Christian’s life.—l am, etc., Observer. rThe writer also gives a pointed description of a singer who “ when on his feet hymnodising stared hither and thither mouth open,” but these remarks ■ have been kindly excluded.] ‘ *
