MURDER OF CONSTABLE LONG.
TRIAL OF SUSPECTS. SENSATIONAL EVIDENCE. By Telegraph—Press AssociationCopyright. (Received 11.36 p.m., January 26.) SYDNEY, January 26. Woolfurd, when arrested, confessed that prior to the murder ol Constabie Long the other two arrestees visited the hotel. He gave them the impression of the safe. Woolford, Digby, Grand, and Yeomans were today charged with murdering Constable Long. A witness gave sensational evidence in regard to a conversation amongst accused and a fourth man, who has not yet been arrested, whereat arrangements were made for a number of burglaries, including the hotel where Long was murdered, and utilising a racing marc in conveying the spoil. Witness alleged that he wan asked to take a hand 'in the burglaries. and declined. Tho evidence is unfinished.
The police have seized the racing mare. They ascertained that the owners lent it to Grand and a companion on the night of the murder. Digby and Grand are notorious criminals. They, were remanded today in connection with recent extensive burglaries at Paddington.
