By Telegraph—Press Association— Copyright Received 4.58 p.m., Jan. 25. London, Jan. 24. Mr Justice Willis, as Senior Judge of

the Court, delivered an impressive speech in sentencing Lynch. Ho emphasised the gravity of the crime, and said that the prisoner was a citizen of no moan city, inasmuch as ho was born in Australia, which had shown the utmost devotion to the Motherland. Tho prisoner had sought for the prico of gold in tho country’s darkost hour by joining tbo ranks of hor foos to dotbrono Great Britain and make her name r, byword and reproach. Ho had shed, or dono his best to shed, his own countrymen’s blood. How many wives had boon widowed, and children orphanod, through tho contingent he commanded Heaven only knew. Misjudging tho country, ho had lifted tho parricidal han<l, thinking doubtless sho would shrink from tho gigantic struggle, or at tho worst poaco would bring an amnesty covering his treason, and this was against Victoria, the best belovod and most deeply honored of all the long line of British sovereigns, and ■ against his country, the homo of ■'freedom and progress. It is expected that tho King will relcaso .Lynch aftor a short imprisonment.
