COMMERCIAL.

By, telegraph—Press AssociationCopyright.

LONDON, January 21. At the London wool sales Uic following were among the clips sold : To Kaoru B ; Jd, Abbotsford 84d, Poult awa Bfd. Crossbreds and good merino l first qualities, sold in buyers’ favor. Home lots were withdrawn.

TlicN.Z., L. and M.A. Co. report as to their sale on Friday : Proceedings were marked by, an earnestness on the part of buyers which lias been sadly, absent from sales for the past year, or two, and. the sale all through proved the wisdom of growers allowing their produce to go to publie competition rather than accept private offers.

Wool : Bright crossbred fleece made up ty sijd, coarser and dingy and seedy wools 4gd to 5i according to quality, lambs 4d to s ; }d, bellies and pieces 3d to 3ld, locks- 2 ; )d to 2Jd, pockets and bags about Ad all round less.

Sheepskins : For all lines) having good pelts, free from weevil, prices ruled distinctly higher than last sale; 4Ad was our top price, several lines of 1211- skins making that price. Other lots of station skins made 2£d to 4.}d according to length of wooi'and condition or pelt. Growers will excuse us for advising once more tho importance of care ‘in saving skins. The condition of the pelt will make adifference of quite Id per lb in value. Tallow : Prices were hardly up to l the extreme prices' paid at layl saley but were quite on a par with Londonvalues. Our sales were: For casks. 22s for dark and dreggy to 26s ton well-rendered, mixed tallow. As long as these prices last the local sales appear to us as good a market as our. clients can obtain.

Hides : Butchers’ hides, light weights, made from 4d to 4,jd ; station hides 3d to 33d—good prices, as some of the lines were rather ‘‘sloppy,” and would have lost a lot of weight in shipping to outside markets. Tails made lOd per dozen.

Our catalogue comprised 103 bales, 47 pockets, 26 bags wool, 531 sheepskins, 6 hlids tallow, and 66 hides,, and we are pleased to congratulate clients on the revival of prices,, and the hopefulness of buyers as manifested by their brisk and determined bidding.
