Frasertown, yesterday. The Agricultural and Pastoral Society’s Show was held to day in fine weather. j There was a large attendance. The entries of all classes of stock are larger than in 1 any previous year, and the success of the gathering is assured. The ram fair will be held to-morrow.
SUCCESS OF GISBORNE HORSES. |Social to Times.] Wairoa, yesterday, The Frasertown Show, held yesterday, was a great success. The weather was fine, and the attendance large. There were good entries in the various classes,
particularly ia those allotted to horses, and the competition was of a very keen description. .Several horses were taken from Gisborne district for the show, and proved victorious in the different event* for which they were entered. For the best pair of buggy horses Mr Cyril White carried off first honors with his handsome pair. Mr E. Murphy’s Waratah won the weight-carrying hack class, whilst in the light weight hacks Mr’ Harley D Evans’ bay gelding Sultan proved victorious. For the best lady’s hack Mr Cyril White’s brown gelding secured pride of place. In the best walking competition Mr Harley D. Evans’ Sultan scored another victory, Mr E. J. Reynolds’ brown mare Eocket being second and Mr Cyril White’s brown [ gelding third. In this class Sultan holds an unbeaten record, having won this event three times in succession, twice at the Poverty Bay A. and P. Show and again at Frasertown, having at the latter place’ beaten a field of fifteen horses. In the leaping match Mr R. J. Reynolds’ Sandy again proved what a capital jumper he is,. Mr F. Vaughan’s King Billie being second' This is the second win for this horse at jumping within the last few months.
