Messrs Williams and Kettle, Limited, furnish us with tho following report in connoetion with the sale of Gisborne wools at last series of .London sales, dating from 25th November to 4th December :

R. J. Reynolds.—l bale scoured hollies 4;'jd, 1 bale scoured locks 4Ad. Chas. Gray.—l bale greasy mixod fleece 4ijd, 10 bales Ist pieces 4d, 2 bales 2nd pieces 2*jd. Gisborno Sheepfarmers’ Company.—7 bales slipo sjd to 6[d, 1 bale scoured lambs s}d, 2 bales scoured 2nds sd. rfmith and Morrison. —1 bale scoured fleece fine 7 ; |d, 4 bales scoured fleece fine 6,{d, 3 bales scoured pieces 6d, 1 bale scoured pieces 4;ld, 1 bale bellies scoured 4-Jd, 1 bale locks scoured 4id, 1 bale lambs scoured 1 bale mixed scoured 6d.

Nelson Bros., Limited. —74 bales slipo wool (averago) 01 3d. Payne and Lysnar.—4 bales scoured 53 d.

A careful study of these figures in comparison with the prices ruling at local sales, both privately and at auction, during December will show that the figures ruling locally are considerably in advance of comparative values ruling in London through December. It will thus be seen that buyers were operating not on a levol with tho present prices in London, but in anticipation of a prospective rise at the opening sales of tho first series, which commences on tho 20th of this month. Wo trust that buyors’ anticipations will be realised, and would point out that a 10 per cent, to 15 per cent, rise in January sales would only bring prices to a level with those now ruling locally. The firm’s next wool and skm salo will take place on Friday, 23rd inst.
