POVERTY BAY ROWING CLUB.

T , mutual picnic in connection with the Poverty Bay Rowing Club took place yesterday at tnc _ Quarry. Four brake, loads of merry picnickers left town, there being about 12d at tlie picnic. After a pleasant drive, the Party assembled at a delightful picnic site, and during the day a very jolly time was spent, outdoor games being taken up with spirit. The arrangements were in the hands of a committee of ladies —Misses McDowell (secretary), McGrath (2), Mo re 11 (2), Stafford, Hall, amt Tills. Everything went off very pleasantly, (lie party returning to town in tlie cool of the evening. The members of the Club and their friends had a pleasing wind-up to the day’s holiday with a social in the in the Academy of Music, the foregoing Committee carrying out the arrangements, There was a large attendance. and about 00 couple heartily joined in the dancing, Mr T. Spiers acted as M.C., and the music was supplied by Mrs Fernandez, an extra being played by Miss Scott. A first-class 'spread was provided, and the social can fairly fake rank as among the best held under the auspices of the Club.
