VALEDICTORY.
; At tho meeting of tho Gisborne 3 bite Tent last evening there was . j attendance of the members, wber . opportunity was taken to bid farev, t two of tho brothers of the Tent, Br j Georgeßon, P.C.R., who is secretary a. Tent, and Bro. A. P. McGrath, both whom shortly leave for England. During tho ovening a pleasing function took place, when Bro. M. G. Nasmith, jnr. , P.C.R., on behalf of tho Gisborne and Ballance Tents, presented Bro. Georgeson with a handsome dressing case. In making the presentation, Bro. Nasmith spoke ' in eulogistic terms of the services rendered to both Tents by Bro. Georgeson. Ho had been an energetic secretary, a capable chairman, a first-class auditor, and a thoroughly active member. His departure would be a great loss to the Tent, and his place would be hard to fill. He wished iu the uame of the Tent all success to Bro. Georgeson, and though seas may divide him from the brethren, he hoped that the bonds binding tho brother to the Tent would never be broken. Bro. J. Peckover, treasurer, referred also in pleasing terms to his connection with Bro. Georgeson in the carrying out of his duties. Bro. Georgeson, in reply, thanked the brethren for the gift, which came to him as a complete surprise. He modestly said he did not merit the gift, but he assured the members he would greatly treasure it, and when either on sea or land he would often think of the happy times spent- in the Teat. Another presentation was made later on in the evening, of which Bro. A. P. McGrath was the recipient. Bro. Nasmit* who made the presentation, referred the abilities displayed by the brolhr-: the various offices held by him in t. Tent. He had been their Deputy Rule,, a short while back, and all wished him to occupy the Chief Ruler’s chair, but his modesty could not be overcome. They all regretted Bro. McGrath’s departure, and asked his acceptance of a pair of gold sleeve-links as a slight token of their esteem and regard—the present would remind him of the links that connected him with the Gisborne Ten*. Bro. McGrath, in a very modest speech, thanked the members warmly for their present, which he would greatly prize.
There was a large attendance af a meeting of the Christian Endeavor Society last night, the Rev. J. G. Paterson presiding. During the meeting the opportunity was taken to wish Godspeed to three members who are about to leave for the Old Country—Messrs A. Georgeson, A. P. McGrath and S. Muir. They leave early in .January, the two former with the object of improving themselves in engineering, while Mr Muir leaves ou a visit to the Old Country,
