Replying to deputations at Durban, Mr Chamberlain stated that he intended to advise Lord Milner to summon a conference to discuss the question of union of tho railways of South Africa, which was a far more urgent matter than federation, lie was particularly pleased with tho strong feeling in favor of preferential rates for British goods, indicating unity and sympathy. There was ample room in South Africa for Indian labor.
