A PUBLIC THRASHING.

By Telegraph—Press Association— NELSON, last night. Mr Mace, formerly a resident of Belgrove, now of Wellington, to-day publicly thrashed Mr Vesey, State school teacher, at Foxhill railwaystation. Vesey was not greatly hurt, but showed little resistance. Mace’s object is to force Vesey to bring an action at law to prove certain allegations made by Mace's daughter, as Vesey’s pupil, as to occurrences some months ago, which formed the subject of au Education Board investigation, hut without result. Mace says lie was advised to take this step by the highest authority. 1
