MANAWATU RACES. (Per Press Association.) Palmerston North, last night. Rain fell in the morning for the first day of the Munawatu Racing Club’s meeting, but the weather cleared after midday. A westerly wind sprang up and continued all the afternoon. The meeting was largely attended and proved most successful, particularly as regards good racing. The sum of £12,135 was put through the machine. The results were : Telegraph Stakes.—Rangitata 1, Perfection 2, Laureate 3. Scratched : Oingo and Torowrd. AVon easily by three lengths. Time 1.20 30, divs. £4 10s and 19s.
First Hurdles. —Kohunui 1, Waiwera 2, Hoer 3. All started. AVon by three lengths. Time 4.6, divs. £4 5s and 15s. Mannwatu Cup Handicap.—Hinctaura 1, Convoy 2, Kahuwai 3, All started. A good race. Eoseplot led for a mile, and then fell away. Ilinetaura came through at the top of tho straight and. won by half a length. Time 2.47 3-0, divs. £3 6s and £1 3s. First Hack Hurdles.—Flanagan 1, AVaitolii 2, Beau Ideal 3. Scratched: The Gryphon aud Aroha AVon from start to finish. Time 3.36. Divs. £0 lS>s and 16s. Maiden Hack.—Ballarat 1, Maureon 2, Tho Gift 3. Scratched: St. Albert, G. 0.8., A’aleniu, Sir Galahad, Position, and Petor Kalin. Time 2.3. Divs £3 10s and £2 3s.

THAMES RACES. [By Telegraph—Tress Association.] Thames, last night. The Thames Jockey Club's SummerMeeting commenced to-day. There was a large attendance and fair weather. The course was in good order. The results were : Maiden Handicap.—Maid of Honor 1, Jack Brown 2, Valedictory 3. Time 1.32 1-5, div. XT 10s. Pirst Hurdles.—Princess of Thule 1, Hippowai 2. These were the only starters. Time 3.39, div. 15s.
Goldfields Cup.—The Doctor 1, Jack Brown 2, Zneleka 3. A great race, won by a nose, all bunched. Time 2.11, div. X2 fis. Pony Handicap.—Lottie (late Madge) 1, Fourth 2, Wilddowcr 3. Time 1,18,. div.
