Play had to bo delayed for two hours this morning. Canterbury’s first innings closed for 133 ; Orchard with 32, Garrard 29, and Strange *42, making double figures. Fisher took five wickets for 33 runs, Downs two for 52, Austin two for 7. Otago were disposed of for 98 in tho second innings ; Johnston 13, and Cummings 26, only reaching double figures. Frankish took four for 31, Lowell threo for 28, Sims 1 for 27, Ormond 1 for 1. Canterbury have lost two wickets for 19, Sims being not out with 12. Efforts are being made to arrange a Town v. Country cricket match for New Yeans Day. His intended to play the match at Ormond, commencing at, It a.m. Mr Caesar nas been asked to select the Country eleven and Messrs 11. Plimmer and Gibson elie Town representatives. Those desirous of taking part in the match should acquaint the selectors early.
