An extraordinary murder was recently committed in St. Petersburg. Two men were dining together at a well-knowD restaurant, apparently on the best of terms. When dinner was over oue of the men left, and some time afterwards it wss discovered that the other, who had been apparently leaning over the table, bad had his throat cut. fie proved to be a wellknown tailor named Subotine. None of the other diners in the restaurant had heard or seen anything unusual between the murderer and his victim,
