GEAR MEAT COMPANY. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, last night At tho annual meeting of tho Gear Moat Company to-night a dividend at the rate of 7.1, per cent on the paid up capital was declared. Messrs H. D. Bell and A. Andorson, retiring directors, wero reelected. FACILITIES TO TOURISTS. The Union Company finds itself unable to fall >n with tho suggestion of tho Tourist Department that the steamer from Melbourne to New Zealand should call at Milford Sound once a month. The Com* pany points out that to do so would entail steaming 106 miles, and mean tho lengthening of tho passage by 15 hours. OBITUARY. Tho death is announced of Mr J. 11. 1 erred, assistant defences storekeeper, a-ed 46 years. Mr Jerrcd succeeded tho lato Mr Smell two years ago.
