An announcement made in our advertising columns by the Gisborne Gas Company should be read with pleasure by householders and business won. From January Ist the price of gas for lighting purposes is to be reduced by the substantial amount of lOd per 1000 ft. With gas at tiic reduced rate, and with the excellent results obtained from the Welsbach burner, every house iu Gisborne, it is contended, should adopt gas for lighting purposes, and in order to facilitate the installation of up-to-date fittings the company are prepared to undertake tiiis work at cost price. If, as the company expect, the reduction in price leads to a greater consumption of gas, it is intended to make a further substantial reduction at an early date. An inspection of the splendid stock of fittings now on view at tho company’s office will repay householders. The company aro to be commended for the progressive step that they have taken, and we sincerely trust that it will lead to a considerable increase in the volume of business transacted.
