LOCAL OPTION POLLS.
OBJECTION TO MATA ORA. By Telegraph—Press Association. Invercargill, last night. Hearing of the petition to upset the Mataura licensing poll, where prohibition was carried, commenced to-day. An objection to the form of the petition was left for the Supreme Court to decide. Evidence was given that the booths at Otamati, Gore, and Waikawa Valley were either not open at nine a.in. or were closed during some part of the day. Hearing will be continued to-morrow, and then adjourned till after the holidays, as the Magistrate has to open the enquiry at Bruce.
