ARRIVAL OF LORD HAWKE'S ~ TEAM. i. a By Telegraph—l’rcss Association. " Auckland, last night. '■ Lord Hawke’s team arrived by tho Ventura, and wore welcomed by Messrs n F. C. Raphael (Hon. Secretary of tho Now Zealand Cricket Council), Melvin- ? noy, A. E. Trott, and others. They ' stated they had a very good passage. The trip is not likely to impair their play on Friday. Replying to a rjuery as to what sort of a team they had, the captain said it would have lots of batting and good fielding, and varied bowling, Tho bowlers were 1 Thompson, Hargreaves, Bosanquet, Dowson, and Rurnip. Thompson was a fast- - ish right-hand bowler, and Hargreaves left-handed. Bosanquet was both fust and slow. Dowson was slow. He had received a cablo stating that Lord Hawke was not coming out, in consequence of an accident and the illness of his mother. PERSONNEL OF THE TEAM. C. ‘ Raphael, Hon. Secretary of tho New 11 Zealand Cricket Council, decided that the * Australian tour of Lord Hawke’s team bo e abandoned. The team will, therefore, be ® ablo to play two New Zealand matches — ‘ one at Christchurch, on March 6th, 7th, 1 and 9th, and tho other at AVellington, on March 12th, 13tb, and 14th. They leavo on March 14th for Brisbane (via Sydney), ' whore a match will probably bo played . against Queensland, on March 21st, 23rd, and 24th, and finally loave for Vancouver on March 26th. ..
