SPORTING.

AUCKLAND SUMMER MEETING. Siego Gun continues a warm favorite for the Auckland Cup. An offer was made on Monday in Auckland to take 500 to 250 about the son of Hotchkiss, but it remained unsatisfied. However, 2’s to 1 could be obtained in small amounts. Porirua is quoted at -1 to 1, Bluejacket 7 to 1, and The Shannon 10 to 1. The combination, Porirua and Wairiki (Cup and Railway Handicap), has been supported to win about £2OOO, and Porirua and Haydn (Cup and Steeplechase) has been supported to the tune of £IOOO. Advices received from Napier state that The Shannon is acquitting herself well at Hastings. With the exception of a couple of thousands taken respectively about Porirua and Wairiki and Siege Gun and Wairiki in connection with the Auckland Cup and Railway Handicap, and a thousand about Porirua and Hadyn for the Cup and Steeplechase, the wagering transacted on the big events impending at Bllerslic has been mostly confined to small amounts. On the Cup and Railway Handicap, the combination, Siege Gun and Pallas, is quoted at 100 to 10, Siege Gun Orloff at 100 to 8, and Siege Gun and Wairiki at 100 to 7. Tauhei and Papatu have been nominated for the four hurdle events at the Auckland Summer Meeting. Tauhei also figures in one or two fiat races,
