A largo and influential meeting of citizodb, convened by tho Mayor, was hold this ovoning, when it was rosolvod to form a Shipwreck Ruliof Socioty of Now Zealand, with tho headquarters at Dunedin, and branches throughout tho colony. Lord Raufurly was appointed patron, and the PremiorandChief Justico vico-patrons; Mr Justico Williams presidont, and tho Mayor and Mr James Mills trustees. The comraitteo includes tho city and suburban members and tho Hon. McLean. An influential committee was appointed to draw up constitution and rules. Mr W. Bclchor, on bohalf of seafaring men, expressed thanks to tho Mayor and others for having taken tho matter up.
