SIR JOSEPH WARD BLOCKS A CONTINUOUS SERVICE.

[By Telegraph—Press Association.] Wakapuaka, last night. As tho Postmaster-General of New Zealand secs no necessity to extend tho hours at which telegraph-offices throughout the colony are now open at night the Eastern Extension Cable Company has abandoned its intention of inaugurating a continuous service to and from Now Zealand. It is likoly, however, that that the cable will be opened somewhat earlier in tho morning, in order to facilitate the transmission to New Zealand of work which accumulates in Sydney after the cable closes at night.
