RICHARDSON IN GAOL
PROTEST FROM TEMPERANCE PARTY.
AN APPEAL TO MR SEDDON,

Auckland, last night. W. Richardson, tho well-known temperance lecturer, has been arrested and lodged in gaol for failing to comply with an order of the court in tho case against him in connection with tho sceno at Sir Joseph Ward’s Auckland meeting on Oct. 20. Richardson was charged with disturbing the meeting and was fined £2 and costs, amounting altogether to £5 17s. Richardson has impressed on his friends that he does not wish any of thorn to pay his fine. The Auckland Temperance Crusade has telegraphed to Mr Seddon :—“ Richardson arrested re Ward’s meeting. Do you approve of this injustice and persecution.”
