LONDON. December 3. Three thousand strikers at Yladidavicay, at Host nr on Don, stoned the Cossacks, wounding ten.
The strikers refusing to disperse, the Cossacks tired a volley. Two strikers wore killed and nineteen wounded. Similar scenes were enacted, at LichoreUkaia.

OUR FRIEND. Rome, Dec. 3. Signor Frinotti, the Premier, states that Great Britain is permitted to cross tho frontier of tho Italian hinterland in Somaliland. Italy had exerted her utmost authority to prevent contraband arms, and ardently dosired to maintain and consolidate the traditional friendship with Great Britain.
LABOR CONFERENCE,
Sydney, Dec. 4, The Australian Labor Conference have passed a resolution urging a Foderal navigation law for the protection of Australian shipping against unfair competition, providing for tho supply of lifesaving and other equipment ; n White Australia, and Federal old ago pensions to bo adopted as planks, It is suggested that tho money for tho latter be provided from direct taxation. Motions were carriod in favor of National life and fire insurance and Commonwealth bank issuo. Tho Conference declared against tho continuance of the naval subsidy. If any mouoy was available for naval defence it should bo devoted to the formation of a navy ownod and controlled by the Commonwealth. Mr McGowan, leader of the New South Walos party, strongly opposed tho determination as unwise and impracticable. A motion was passed that the military policy of the Commonwealth should bo defensive, not offensive, and the military oxponditure should he reduced to that spent in the year prior to Juno COth, 1899.
