WELLINGTON'S THIRD MEMBER.

The Evening Post of the 22nd inst. has the following notice of Mr Fisher's first address to the electors:—“The building was crowded, and Mr 11. C. Fuller was voted to the chair. Mr Fisher made no reference to politics, though frequently requested to do so, but confined his remarks to a few words about liis own services to the city, especially in reference to the dock. I-'rom the commencement of the meeting it was evident that those present were not disposed to take matters seriously, and their hilarity was greatly increased when the candidate sang a line or two of “ Sons of the Sea,” and expressed his willingness to give a step-dance. After some twenty-five minutes had been occupied in diversions of thisjsort, the Chairman said )Mr Fisher desired him to say that he did not feel like talking any more, and that he was going to throw in his lot with the rest of the politicians, and take his chance on the 25th, when he (Mr Fisher) hoped they would all be there. The Chairman concluded by saying that he would take a resolution from anybody who felt disposed to move one. Amid great uproar a man at the back of the hall rose and said he desired to move a hearty vote of thanks to Mr Fisher and confidence in his speech—the rest of his remarks were c owned [in uproarious laughter, The Cuairman put it to the meeting as a vote of thanks to the eandidate and of confidence in the Government, and on a show' of hands [being taken it was carried without dissent, the majority of those present refraining from voting. The meeting, which had lasted only half an hour, ended in disorder,
