MATAWHERO STOCK SALE. Messrs Williams and Kettle, Ltd., report holding their usual sale of stock at Matawhero on Thursday, when they submitted a large and attractive offering of sheep and cattle to a large attendance of buyers. Tho recent welcome rains exercised a very marked effect on prices, and all classes of stock realised a substan-

tial increase on last sale’s prices. Our offering consisted of 154 head of cattle and 3500 sheep, besides entries of horses, etc.

Sheep : All classes mot with spirited competition, and wo report sales as follows : Forward wethers in wool, 4tooth, mado 15s 9d store wethers in wool, 4-tooth, 13s to 14s 6d ; well-grown hoggets in wool, 2-tooth, mixed sexes, 13s Id ; medium hoggets of same description made from 10s 4d to 11s 7d ; full-mouth ewes aud lambs brought 10s 6d (lambs thrown in) ; cull hoggets in wool made from 5s 6d to 9s 9d ; fat ewes in wool 13s 9d. Every line yarded found a buyer. Cattle : Competition was not so strong as usual in dairying classes, but for fat aud store stock prices \yoro higher than ever. Wo quoto : Light boof, steers and heifers, 2yrs, £6 5s ; fat cows, light, £5 17s 6d, and heavy £8 5s ; steers, 2) to Byrs, store, wero in very strong demand, and made £6 Os ; 2yrs £O. Wo offered a gcod lino of station heifers, 2£yrs old, in light condition, which met with spirited competition, and wero knocked down at £4 10s to £4 16s. Station cows, with calves in low condition, made £6. A beautiful line of six springing heifers sold in ono lot made £8 each, whilst other springers made from £5 15s to £8 10s. Calves wero in active demand, and made from 80s to 40s. We offered several buffs, which mot with ready sale, as follows : One aged bull, £3 10s ; ono 5-year-old Shorthorn, £l3 15s; and ono Shorthorn calf, 10 months, brought £ll, and an aged Shorthorn buff mado £S. Our next sale will bo held on tho 18th December.

Messrs Dalgety and Co., Ltd., have received tho following London cablegram, under Thursday’s date “ Tallow market unchanged ; very litt-lo demand.’’
