In tho Houso of Commons, Mr Cripps, member for Stretford, moved tho omia* siou in tho Education Bill of Colonel Kenyon Slanoy’s amendment, previously accepted by Government, which gavo the managers of schools control of religious institutions. Mr Balfour said that theoretically thcro was something in tho clergy's comments regarding tho powor oonforrod by tho amondment, but thoro was little real fear of tho laity attempting to ovorrido tho clergy’s control of roligious teaching. Mr Cripp’s motion was dofoatod by 204 to 80.
