CHARGE OF THEFT. By Telegraph —Press Association. Dunedin, last night. The Supreme Court was engaged today in hearing a charge agaiust James Murphy, a returned trooper, of stealing two rifles belonging to another returned contingenter. After a long retirement, the jury returned a verdict of not guilty, and accused was discharged. HARRIERS. The Dunedin Harriers held a ten-mile scratch race with the view of establishing a record for the colony, and if possible for Australia. The conditions were not too favorable. H. Murray won by ten vards from T. Bennet in 58min. 9 2-osee. A claim will be made to have it recognised as a New Zealand record.
