KRUPP'S FUNERAL
EXTRAORDINARY SPEECH BY THE EMPEROR. By Telegraph—Press Assoeiaiton—Copyright Berlin, Nov. 27. Tho body of Krupp was buried with princely honors. Twenty four thousand workmen lined the streets of Essen, also troops. Tho Kaiser travelled all night to attend tho funeral, and deposited a wreath on the bier. Afterwards he delivered a remarkable address to tho Krupp directors and workmen. Ho said ho considered it his bounden duty as head of tho Empire to hold a shield over tho house and memory of his dead friend, whose sensitive naturo had received a mortal blow. It was base and shameful that any German should attack tho honor of a man devoted to the Fatherland and tho welfare of tho working classes. It was nothing less than murder to throw tho poisoned darts of slander at his sanctum.
Tho Kaiser closed with an appeal to workmen to defend tboir master’s honor and out themsolves away from tho author’s deed.
