PRESBYTERIAN ASSEMBLY

Wellington, last night.
At the Presbyterian Assembly to day the licensing of the following Home missionaries and evangelists was agreed to : It. Gardner, Hawke’s Ji-iy ; J. Mcffiiw, Wellington : J. Cottc-rwcod, Du: ofin ; and on completing his three years course, J. G. Chappie to he licensed ; the ltevs. J. Paterson, McDonald, and I.'. Wilson, to he admitted as ministers, and .1. Wilson as probationers ; the Revs. J. MeCarthur arid A. Lnshley to he admitted to the ministry after a year’s probation. A deputation from the Ministers’ Association attended and during an inter view the Rev Mr Oliver said tne churches were coming together, and the unity of the churches was not so far away as some people seemed to rhink. A motion of thanks to the. drpiration was passed expressing ploasuro at the spirit of unity I observed among the churches.
