LYSNAR LOGIC

Sir.—l understood Mr Lysnar recently to state in the Thcutro Royal that the proper sphere of ministers of the Gospel was to teaeli the Gospel and not interfere in matters of social importance. Further, ho advised electors not to lie inlluenced b.y travelling lecturers and ministers, because they had no stake in tho district and could pack up their portmanteux, and leave when they desired. Will Mr W. D. Lysnar explain the logic of his attitude in supporting on the platform and advertis ing in the press along with his own name, a reverend travelling gentleman, who is, according to Mr W. D. Lysnar, clearly exceeding iiis duty in coming hero to advise electors on social matters, and not having a stake in tlie district should bo ignored by the electors of Waiapu when lie offers advise. This reverend gentleman last evening told his audience that tho prohibi tory law against thieving eottid not bo tip plied to drinking, because of the illogical analogy, but at the close of the address, in answer to a question, showed it was just as absurd to sympathise with a man having a desire to steel (a kleptomaniac) as to sympathise with a victim of alcohol (a drundard)—unconsciously acknowledging the analogy.
