He was met at tho station by the .Mayor and Councillors and Mr McLachlun. Tlie party drove through the Domain, and visited the Hospital and Old -Men's Home, and lunched at the Commercial Hotel, whoro the Premier gave an account of his trip to the Old Country and South Africa, and paid r» lttgn compliment to Ashburton as a progressive borough. Tiio Hovermnent had done something for it, but the people had done a great deal more for themselves. The Premier left for Christchurch bv tho afternoon train.
