FIGHTING IN SOMALIIAND.

HASTENING THE DESPATCH OF REINFORCEMENTS. COLONEL SWAYNE'S ARRIVAL AT ADEN. TROOPS MARCHING TO THE BASE. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright London, Nov. 4. Colonel Swaync has arrived at Aden, lie is temporarily advising tlie Foreign Otlice on the condition of affairs in Somaliland. General Manning lias arrived at Barbara, and lias assumed supreme cum maud. The advance lias been deferred, awaiting for tiie African protectorate troops. The force available by the tilth will be three thousand strong, with a larger force of discountenanced details, and artillery and special service officers from Berbers aro advancing immediately to-tho base, between Berbers and Illig. General Manning is dispensing with the Indians as far as possible, except for holding the lines of communication. Owing to tho difficulties of transport and cliuiato, and necessary camp followers, preference is to be given to the Protectorate regiments.

A general advance will bo begun in the middle of December, when Col. Swayno has returned to his post. The season is now favorable for an advance. Tho Mullah will doubtless utiliso tho opportunities to carry on a boastful propaganda. Uneasiness is felt at Aden at tho unconfirmed report that the Mullah raided the advanced outpost, noar Cahotloh, capturing an important camel transport.
