At tho start of tho Maribyrnong Plate the Duke of Grafton stumbled, and was almost down. In tho Coburg Stakes Kilt, Prospero, First Thought, and Andorra fell. The last two wore killed. Tho majority of spectators woro of opinion that Strata Florida was third in the Derby. Cup quotations are : 5 to 1 Abundance, 6 to 1 wanted ; 7 to 1 Tho Persian, taken and offered ; 8 to 1 Patronage, 14 to 1 Sojourner, Lieutenant Bill, and Flagship. Appearances indicate that Tho Persian will start favorite.

Tho attendance on Saturday was unequal to recent Derbies. The hot wind was possibly accountable.

Won by a clear length. Timo 1.26}; div. £ll9s.
