LATEST INFORMATION. ACCIDENTS ON DERBY DAY. By Telegraph —Press Association—Copyright Melbourne, Nov. 2. At Flemington this morning Ibex galloped six furlongs in 1.17 J. At tho start of tho Maribyrnong Plate the Duke of Grafton stumbled, and was almost down. In tho Coburg Stakes Kilt, Prospero, First Thought, and Andorra fell. The last two wore killed. Tho majority of spectators woro of opinion that Strata Florida was third in the Derby. Cup quotations are : 5 to 1 Abundance, 6 to 1 wanted ; 7 to 1 Tho Persian, taken and offered ; 8 to 1 Patronage, 14 to 1 Sojourner, Lieutenant Bill, and Flagship. Appearances indicate that Tho Persian will start favorite.

Tho attendance on Saturday was unequal to recent Derbies. The hot wind was possibly accountable.

TROTTING AT AUCKLAND. By Tolegraph —Press Association. Auckland, last night. For tho Auckland Trotting Club’s Spring Meoting, first day, tho weathor was fino. The track was in good order, and thore was a large attendance. The totalisator recoipts for tho day were £1676. The results wero:

Scratched : Duke C, Sir Robert, aud Little Ben. Won by a head, after a good race in the straight. Timo 4.16.1; div. 235. October Handicap : Annoyed 1, Girton Girl 2, Orange and Blue 3. All started. Won by a clear length. Timo 1.26}; div. £ll9s.

Spring Trot: Polly 11. 1, Hoiress 2, Little Bon 3. Scratched : Rosebud. Won easily by 40 yards. Time 5.25 ; div. 15s. Pony Trot: Miss Mnnro 1, Bert 2, Jingo 3. All started. Won by 15 yards. Timo 3.40 ; div. £8 6s.
