Mr J. A. A. Caesar has selected tho following players to represent Country in the Town v. Country cricket match at To Hapara next Saturday. An accident of a painful nature occurred at the Show Grounds yesterday to Master Hudley Evaus, a son of Mr Chas. Evans, of Bushmere. He was riding Mr W. JR Rysnar’s pony Kruger in tho leaping match, and at the first hurdle the pony came down. Whilst the boy was on tho grovnd tho pony struck him in the face, breukiug ms nose. The Jad Was brought into town for medical attendance, and was afrerwards taken t-u his parents’ home at Bushmere.

There was a large assemblage jesterdav afternoon in ibe playground of the- Gisborne School, several presen la--I,ions being made to Mr J. 11. Bull, prior to li’is departure for Waipawa to take up the duties of headmaster of ibe school there. Among those present were the Mayor and Mayoress, lion. J. Carroll, Chairman and members of tlie School Committee and the teachers and children, Mr IT. Bull, sen. and many others, including a large number, of ladies. The main presentation was uii address and purse of sovereigns from the citizens. A report is held over.
