Their Majesties drove quietly to St. Paul’s to attend the thanksgiving service, accompanied by a small escort of the GHauls, the Prince of Wales and many .itber members of the Royal family joining before the service began. There was an immense congregation, thousand being excluded. The Home Secretary informed tne Lord Mayor that llis Majesty was highly gratified nt the loyal reception and the city’s hospitality at the Guildhall. General Botha saluted ns Lord Roberts rode past the County Council stand. During the procession tho Boer generals uncovered, and when tho King received the address Botha clapped his hands after His Majesty’s reply. The Daily Express states that leaving the County Council stand tho Boer generals received a hostile demonstration, Do Wet being bonnetted. Tho police rescued and escorted him out oi tho crowd.
