EDUCATIONAL MATTERS. (Per Press Association.) Christchurch, last night. The Canterbury College Board of Governors has been asked by tbe Students’ Association not to discontinue the lectureship on geology, rondered vacant by tbo resignation ot Captain Hutton. The Board at a previous meeting considered that so few of the students took up a geological course that it would be useless to continue to engage a lecturer for it. The Board has not reversed its decision, but has referred the matter to a committee. A proposal was made at the meet mg of tbe Canterbury College Board of Governors to-day that tho salaries of the Professors receiving £9OO should bo reduced to £:700, and students' fees he reduced in consequence. It was stated that tbe fees were higher than any other college ill tho colony. The Board, however, did not take any steps. RELIGIOUS INSTRUCTION.
