POVERTV u. Y cricket ASSOCIATION.

A meeting of the Management Committee of the Poverty Buy Cricket Association was held at tlio Masonic Hotel on Saturday evening Present :—Messrs D. C. Hawkins (in tho chair), W. J. Barlow, H. 1,. Hill, and \\. Gibson (bon. sec.) Tne principal business was discussion as to a ground for the season. Most of the Committee thought To Hapara was too far from town. Eventually, Mr Barlow gave notice of a motion rescinding the resolution passed at last meeting fixing le Hapara as the ground. The Secretary was directed to write asking the Rugby Union’s permission to play at Victoria Domain, and asking for terms. A letter was received from the Hawke’s Bay Association stating that it would welcome the re-affiliation of Poverty Bay, and expressing the belief that the re-affiliation would result in much good, especially in view of the visit of Lord Hawke’B team. It was decided to play a match Town v. Country at Te Hapara on Saturday next, and Mr J. A. Caesar was appointed to select the country team, and Alessrs Hill and Gibson the town eleven. The match will commence at 1 o’clock.

The Town team will be selected on tho ground from the following players : W. Andrews. Dodd, W. Gibson, Hay, Hill, Iveson, Kix-tsebmar, Lyttleton, Macdonald, MeCredia, Plimmer, Porter, F. G. Sharp, Sheridan, White, arid Zacbariah. There were about a dozen players at j net practice at Te Hapara on Saturday afternoon. E. N. Sidebettom, tbe wellknown bowler, made a re-appearance on I the cricket field, and trundled in first-rate form. F. G. Sharp, a brother of the County player, made a first appearance on a local gtound, and proved that he can both bat and bowl. He learned his cricket at New College, Margate, and should be an acquisition to the West End Club this season. A. Crawford, Macdonald, T Haisman, Kretschmar, and \y. Gibson were also among those present.
