EDUCATION BILL.
By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright London, Oct. 25.
Mr Balfour is dissatisfied with tho progress of the Education Bill, and has warned the Opposition that obstructive discussions will be met with wholesale closure. The mode of opposition conducted would, if applied to other measures, render party government impossible. Parliament must resist the confession of its own impotence.
The Standard states that tho Catholic authorities fear a concession will be made to enable tho authorities to seriously interfere with a manager in tho arrangement of work and the selection of school books, and it is suggested that they may reconsider their attitude towards the Bill.
The Nationalists hope that tho Bishops will ask them to vigorously opposo the measure.
