FIRE INQUIRY,

An inquest was opened to-day concerning the cause of the fire which in July last destroyed tho residence of Mr and Mrs Armitage in Mount Eden road. The greater part of the day was taken up with the examination of Mr Armitage. Witness was asked whether he had not paid a man £lO and given him a bicycle and kodak te set fire to the house. This he emphatically denied, and some other questions declined to answer, acting on the advice of his counsel. The enquiry, which was adjourned until next day, was from time to time considerably delayed by the wordy breezes, several passages at arms occurring between the parties interested, A SUICIDE.
This afternoon a man's dead body was found found hanging from a tree in tbe Domain. Deceased, whose name is unknown, is supposed to have commmitted suicide.
